About Talsari Beach

Talsari is Odisha at its most unhurried. While Digha packs its promenade with day-trippers, Talsari keeps things simple: a long arc of flat sand, palm and coconut trees, casuarina groves humming in the sea wind. Tala means palm, Sari means a row.

The Subarnarekha river fans into a wide estuary here — a calm river-side flat and the open-sea shore, with a vast sandbar appearing at low tide.

This is a working coast. Fishing hamlets wake before dawn; the morning fish auction is underway by first light. Talsari’s red ghost crabs are active in daylight — at low tide the wet sand looks carpeted in red. The same district holds more: Kasafal Sea Beach is another shoreline known for red crab colonies.
