Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Park in Lucknow has a brief but eventful history. The Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Udyan, formerly known as the Ambedkar Memorial Park, was established in 1995. However, after further repairs in 2002, the Udyan was renamed the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial. Although the memorial was updated in 2007, it did not become fully functional as a public space until 2008. Ambedkar Park was renamed the Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial in 2012.

The park was built at a cost of around INR 6 billion.
