Jodhpur Tourism

Often referred to as the "Blue City" because of the vast amount of painted houses and walls spread throughout the city, Jodhpur, an important tourist destination in Rajasthan is a warm city with bright blue skies. Jodhpur was founded by Rao Jodha, chief of the Rathore clan in 1459.

Having been driven from their homeland Kakkanum, by Afghans, the Rathores had fled to Pali approaching the local kingdom in order to join in matrimony for really just political strength or support, after which they ejected the Pratiharas from Mandore and established that as their capital. However in later days, albeit of still need a more secure capital position, the Rathores decided the beautiful city of Jodhpur would be preferable.

Jodhpur's extraordinary architecture is what mesmerizes the tourist during his/her city sightseeing expedition. Jodhpur presents the offspring a smart mix of today's world with an unavoidable mix of yesteryear's 'Old' and 'New' Jodhpur so that it's not culturally integrated,/fractured.

The 'Old' Jodhpur is fused with the iconic blue painted residences, continuous-spawning hotels, more enchanting than the last, to draw in the hippie traveller and present nostalgic experiences of the rural side of one of Rajasthan's favorite tourist destinations. The 'New' Jodhpur is an amalgam of high end hospitality lodging, malls, entertainment parks, cafes and lounges. It fully indulges and highlights all of Jodhpur the 'modern' version of Jodhpur.

However, the beautiful suburbia of Jodhpur can not be overlooked. With lakes woven into the fabric of the city such as Kaylana, to the areas nearby the Osian village which still has ancient historic Hindu and Jain temples and a desert area with camel safaris. Indeed, Jodhpur continues to enrich and fulfill family holiday experiences, honeymoon's, lovers of history, students there is plenty to keep them interested or, dare I say a solo expedition.
